Our Chiropractic Care

Overview

Chiropractic Care can treat not only back and neck pain, but is also treatment for other ailments including joint pains, nerve conditions (such as Sciatica), foot conditions (such as Plantar Fasciitis), headaches and more.  Other common treatments include care for sports injuries, auto accident injuries, pregnancy care and general relaxation care for joints and/or muscles.

Why Chiropractic?

Chiropractic care is ideal for patients who wish to treat the cause of their pain in a safe and natural way.  Chiropractic does not rely on the use of drugs to treat the symptoms of an issue.  Rather, the treatment focuses on the source of the issue.  In chiropractic, patients take an active role in their healing through healthy lifestyle choices such as diet and exercise changes.

What Techniques Might Dr. Daniel Javitz Use With His Treatment Protocols???

Adjustments / Mobilizations

The core of chiropractic is known to be adjustments also known as manipulations of joints. For most treatment combinations, an adjustment may be included to help to help improve range of motion, flexibility, comfort, and overall relaxation of restricted regions by addressing the locked or sticky joints. A slower form of an adjustment is considered a Mobilization and the Doctor may use this to help move a joint that a patient has trouble moving.

Muscle Therapies

When required, Dr. Javitz will make use of one or more muscle therapy options to help break down muscle knots and adhesions in the region of complaint. Knots and adhesions are a form of scar tissue that results from injured/overused muscles.  As scar tissue builds up, the muscles become shorter, weaker and tighter.  The tension on tendons can cause tendonitis and nerves can become entrapped in the tense muscles too.  Overall, a patient with scar tissue may complain of reduced range of motion, a loss of strength, and pain.  If a nerve is trapped, the patient may also feel tingling, numbness, and weakness.  Muscle Therapies may include hands on muscle release therapy, massage machines, physiotherapeutic/electrical stimulation, acupuncture, and/or therapeutic creams.  Stretch and exercise advise/tips may also fall in this category.

Acupuncture

An adjunct treatment tool that can either be combined with chiropractic care or it can be used as a stand alone treatment. Acupuncture is the gentle insertion of very fine needles at specific points on the body. This process stimulates energy within the body, allowing natural healing to take place. It is part of the 3000 year old holistic system of healing known as Traditional Oriental Medicine/Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Acupuncture can be used to treat new and existing muscle tension, injuries, relaxation need, and to improving overall health. It is a safe, effective and drug free therapy that can address a wide variety of health problems.

Physiotherapeutic Modalities

At times, various rehabilitation electronic equipment available to Dr. Javitz, may be used to assist in the overall therapy process. These electrotherapeutic machines can be used to treat various muscle conditions as well as neurological conditions. If required to treat a condition or desired for relaxation purposes, Dr. Javitz will select the best option to help speed up recovery and relax the muscles. Physiotherapeutic Modalities offered here are as follows: Tens, Interferential current, Muscle Stimulation, Electrical Acupuncture Stimulator, Massage Machines, and Muscle or Joint Creams.

Exercise and Stretch Tips/Direction/Training

This may include prescription of exercises and stretches to help speed up recovery. Sometimes an injured muscle may be the result of instability of a particular region or motion. Typically when in an injured or pain state, an individual will undergo a period of guarding (minimal use), immobilization, and/or lack of use. All these lead to muscle imbalances via compensatory behaviors and weakness with associated loss of coordinated movement in the injured areas. With guided rehab training (personal fitness training), the patient can be lead from their supervised rehabilitation state to an independent rehab state and even further to an overall physically fit state. Developing and maintaining a positive physical state both physically and mentally, allows the body to become more resistant to further injury.

Nutritional Tips and Advice

Dr. Javitz can help with basic Nutritional Tips and advice to either complement injury care, help stabilize bad eating habits, and / or educate the patient on the value of a proper food intake.

Custom Orthotic Therapy (Shoe Inserts)

Shoe Orthotics are orthopedic devices that are used to alter or modify foot function and are designed to treat, adjust, and support various biomechanical foot disorders. Faulty foot biomechanics can lead to a whole array of muscle and joint pain complaints that can be felt from the foot, through the knee, to the hip, and even to the back region. Orthotics are custom-made and designed to meet the specific needs of a particular individual.

They are created using an impression of the foot called a cast, which duplicates any misalignments in foot structure. Using the cast and computer technology, technicians in an orthotic laboratory design a device that balances out deformities and corrects misalignments.

The finished orthotic is placed in the patient’s shoe to support the foot and eliminate abnormal foot biomechanics by keeping the foot properly aligned. Specific orthotics can be made to cater to the problems typically found in individuals with Diabetes.
